On the occasion of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, we were given the most wonderful news: Polly, also known as Polly Pocket, has been officially adopted!
Do you remember the adorable puppy who was brought to the Iberville Parish Animal Shelter in Louisiana for treatment of an implanted collar, which caused the dog’s head to swell? Her collar, which had been placed on her when she was a puppy and had never been removed as she proceeded to grow, came dangerously close to suffocating her to death.
Using the Emergency Animal Medical fund that is administered by Greater Good Charities (GGC), we requested your assistance in covering her medical expenses, and you responded in a significant manner.
After that, she boarded a Flight to Freedom, which was made possible by the kind donations that you had made, and arrived in Idaho, where the devoted staff and volunteers at Lake Lowell Animal Rescue continued to provide her with care.
In an effort to restore the harm that was caused by the imbedded collar, Polly underwent treatments that included laser therapy and two surgical procedures. She was in the care of a foster home for several months while she was healing.
