While we were looking into his exhausted eyes, we noticed a glimmer of both terror and pain. It appeared as though he was completely spent, as if he were prepared to close his eyes and give up. Nevertheless, in spite of everything that he had been through, he was able to barely wag his tail, recognizing that he was finally safe and that he was no longer left to wander the streets by alone. Deficiency in water, malnutrition, anemia, and a serious blood infection were all symptoms that Zeus was experiencing. We made the decision to give him the name Zeus, which is a representation of the power that we want him to discover within himself. Initially, he was completely afraid and perplexed, but he had an incredible amount of fortitude. In order to get rid of the fleas and ticks that were bothering him, we started therapy right away by giving him painkillers and Nexgard. On that exact day, Zeus was given two blood transfusions respectively. After receiving intensive care for a week, he started to show signs of improvement, including an increase in his strength and appetite, and we were relieved to be able to release him from the hospital.
