There is a significant amount of inappropriate brushing that I see. I usually recommend to my patients that they use an electric toothbrush (the Sonicares are the finest alternative) in situations where their dental hygiene is not as good as it could be. You can practice brushing your teeth by studying the Bass or Charter's technique on YouTube. This is an option if you are insistent about having a manual. At some point in the future, you will be thankful to yourself.
Due to the fact that I am employed as a dental assistant, the majority of my time is spent in locations where dentists are present. I would never have to go back to work if I had a dollar for every time I overheard them informing a patient that using an electric toothbrush is significantly more advantageous than using a manual toothbrush. If I had a dime for every time I overheard them saying that, I would retire. Nevertheless, this is the situation.
It is also important to note that the fact that you scrape your teeth more thoroughly does not necessarily mean that they are growing cleaner. It is more advantageous to use an electric toothbrush on account of the fact that you are actually inflicting injury; certain electric toothbrushes stop functioning when you apply too much pressure on them.
