One example is this dog, which had lost her paws as a result of being mistreated and was on the verge of being put to death; nevertheless, she was not only spared, but she was also given a gift that enabled her to restore her strength and balance. An abandoned dog named Monika was found in the Russian village of Plastunovskaya in the month of December last year. It was necessary to amputate the dog’s paws since they had suffered severe injuries as a consequence of the many things that the dog had been through.
Volunteers Marina Gapich and Alla Leonkina took in the unlucky dog, but they were disappointed to learn that professionals gave them the recommendation that the dog should be put down. They, on the other hand, were opposed, therefore they looked for an alternative remedy. According to Marina, they were her caregivers, and the dog was in their care according to her statement.
During the search, a veterinarian named Sergei Gorshkov who specialized in prosthesis was discovered. For the purpose of assisting Monika in acquiring replacement legs, the rescuers amassed nearly 400,000 Russian rubles, which is equivalent to approximately $5400.
Despite the fact that the veterinarian has never before created prosthetic paws for a dog, he agreed to take on the task. Tomsk Polytechnic University was responsible for the production of the paws, which were made of titanium and biocoated.
Surgical procedures were performed to implant Monika’s new paws once the paws had been fabricated. In the beginning, everyone was skeptical about the dog’s capacity to adjust to her new prosthesis.
On the other hand, Monika came as a complete surprise to everyone because she quickly adjusted to her new paws. He stated that initially, they did not have any hope, but on the third day, she started getting up and walking around the facility, moving from room to room. Sergei stated that they were not hopeful at the time.
Having been able to save the life of an animal, the veterinarian felt a sense of satisfaction. People that do not give up on animals have the potential to do miracles such as these, which is truly remarkable. Despite the fact that the dog was on the verge of being put down, his life was saved as a result of the efforts of the rescue volunteers and the veterinarian.
