There are some mishaps that are unavoidable, and it is not always our fault, but it is inexcusable to leave a person to suffer after the injury has occurred. A little angelic dog named Sweetie was hit by a car and left to suffer as a result of the accident. This is exactly what happened to Sweetie. The accident had left her with a skull that was exposed, a cut that was so serious that it was difficult to look at it without causing her to grimace. A deep wound on her leg was crawling with maggots, and the sight of it broke my heart. On top of that, the gash was quite deep.

When Sweetie went to the veterinarian, the severity of her injuries became even more apparent. Her teeth were shattered, her gums were extremely pale, and the results of her tests indicated that she had a dangerously high level of infection as well as acute anemia. Surgery was severely needed for her broken leg, but due to her fragile health, it was not able to perform the procedure. During that particular moment, the only thing that we were able to do was clean the incisions and remove any dead tissue. There was simply not enough strength in her physique to withstand any additional damage. In order to alleviate the excruciating agony that Sweetie was experiencing, she was dependent on powerful medicines. For the purpose of combating the infection and bringing about a reduction in swelling, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs were supplied. In order to keep her wounds clean and to prevent any further damage, the bandages were changed numerous times throughout the day. We did everything we could to ensure that she had the best possible chance of surviving.

As soon as Sweetie's health became stable, the veterinarians made arrangements for her to undergo surgery in order to repair her broken leg and close the wound on her skull. As if her body had realized that it was time to rebuild, Sweetie enthusiastically consumed a soft food following the surgery, which indicated that the procedure had been successful. Unhappily, our sense of relief did not last long. The condition of Sweetie's leg began to deteriorate in spite of our attempts. The infection has reached an unacceptable level. She was given the dreadful news by the veterinarian, which was that her leg could no longer be saved. Amputation was the sole alternative that was still available. After everything that Sweetie had been through, it was a decision that completely broke our hearts, but we realized that it was the only way to give her the opportunity to live a life free of agony. As soon as she awoke from the operation and discovered that her leg had been removed, her anguish was evident, and her eyes were filled with confusion. Although it was a difficult moment, Sweetie's body appeared to relax as the knowledge dawned, and the relentless torment that she had been experiencing was finally gone.

Adapting to life as a tripod was the next obstacle that Sweetie needed to overcome. The pace was modest, and we celebrated every little victory while offering support to one another. With each passing day, she gradually gained more self-assurance, and her concerns gradually gave way to faith. Next, the news that came as a complete surprise: a family expressed interest in adopting Sweetie. It was much more uplifting for her to hear this. The most shocking revelation, however, came much later, when an ultrasound revealed that Sweetie was expecting five puppies when she was pregnant. Not only was it a surprise, but it was also a sign of optimism because Sweetie had been carrying a new life the whole while. This turn of events turned her trip into a new chapter, and her future appeared to be more promising than it had ever been.
